Jewellery care

So your pieces stay as timeless as the day you got them!

925 Sterling Silver

Elegant and enduring, sterling silver is study enough to withstand everyday wear and tear but needs a little TLC from time to time. Overtime, Sterling silver will develop a natural tarnish from elements of daily life like oxygen, humidity, our skins pH levels and certain soaps or cleaning chemicals. To keep it shining, simply polish it with a soft cloth as needed (one is included in your order!). For a deeper clean, use warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft tooth brush to clean your sterling silver jewellery.

9ct Solid Gold

Resilient and radiant, 9ct solid gold can handle daily wear with ease, but a little care goes a long way. Unlike sterling silver, solid gold does not tarnish though it can still develop a surface dullness from everyday oils, dirt and exposure to certain chemicals. To maintain its warm glow, gently clean with warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft tooth brush. You can also use a soft polishing cloth (such as the one provided in your order!) to buff away fingerprints or light dullness, however this method is generally more effective for removing tarnish on sterling silver. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive materials, and your gold will continue to sparkle for years to come.

Opals

The opals used at Carved by Claremont are exclusively Australian boulder opals. Boulder opals are one of the most durable types of opal, making them a beautiful yet practical choice for everyday wear. Unlike more porous opal varieties such as Ethiopian opals, boulder opals are naturally stable and not sensitive to water. However, as with any gemstone, its best to treat them with care. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, extreme temperature changes, or ultrasonic cleaners. To clean, simply wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth when needed - no soaking required.

Gemstones

Carved by Claremont pieces often feature a mix of natural and lab-grown gemstones. While many gemstones are durable enough for daily wear, they still appreciate a little extra care. To keep them looking their best, avoid exposing your jewellery to harsh chemicals, perfumes, or extreme temperatures. Most gemstones can be gently cleaned with warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft tooth brush, but best to avoid soaking unless you’re sure the stone can handle it.
